Diego Costa believes Atletico Madrid are
"very lucky"
to have former Barcelona forward Luis Suarez in their ranks this season. Suarez joined Atletico from the Catalan giants on a two-year deal on Friday following a summer exodus of first-team players and the arrival of new manager Ronald Koeman at the Camp Nou. The Uruguayan forward won four La Liga titles and the 2014-15 Champions League at Barcelona, becoming their third all-time top goalscorer with 198 goals in 283 appearances. And Suarez picked up from where he left off in La Liga, marking his Atletico Madrid - who are 6/1 with bet365 to win the Primera Liga - debut with a brace and assist in a 6-1 thrashing of Granada in the capital club's first game of the new season. Costa said:
"We are very lucky to have Luis, I don't understand how Barca could have let him leave. "
He's going to help us with lots of goals as well as his warrior spirit and his hunger to win trophies. I hope he can help us win another trophy for our fans, but we need to take each game as it comes."
