Despite the Super Bowl having a reputation as one of the most popular sporting events each year, the 2019 final between the LA Rams and New England Patriots has been labelled one of the most boring games ever. Super Bowl LIII was the lowest-scoring iteration of the event to date and also marked the first Super Bowl with no touchdowns in the first three quarters, resulting in the Patriots’ sixth victory overall.
Sports Excitement
Sports Excitement Scorecard is an interactive scorecard that allows users to see which sport is really the most exciting. Criteria include the number of key moments during the showpiece event and which is the best value for money when compared to average ticket prices.
Sports Excitement Scorecard also highlights key statistics that impact the level of excitement around each event, including attendance figures, ticket prices and total goals/points scored.
Data is gathered from a range of sources, including FIFA, NFL, NBA, Forbes and BBC.
The 'Excitement Score' is calculated by ranking each sport by the rate of each key moment (Match Time/Key Moments) and adding that to the return of investment (cost per moment), with each sport again ranked to give an overall score out of 100.
